What are the three sections of the UBE?
The UBE consists of the Multistate Bar Exam (MBE), the Multistate Essay Exam (MEE), and the Multistate Practice Test.

The MEE comprises four essay questions.

What is the MBE?
The MBE is a multiple-choice test with 200 questions.

What is the MPT?
The MPT tests your drafting skills as a lawyer on two separate tasks, such as memorandums or client letters.

What subjects are on the UBE?
Conflicts of Laws, Trusts and Estates, Business Associations, Civil Procedure, Criminal Procedure, Criminal Law, Real Property, Torts, Constitutional Law, Sales Contracts, Secured Transactions, Family Law, and Evidence. Questions may come from any of these topics.

What MPRE score do I need for admission to the Colorado Bar?
You need an MPRE score of 85 or higher to be admitted to the Colorado bar.

When are the bar results released?
The exam results are released approximately two 2 months after the exam.

Can you transfer your UBE score from another jurisdiction?
Yes, you can transfer your UBE score to Colorado within 5 years of taking the exam. If you took the exam prior to February 2023, you need a score of 276. If you took the UBE after February 2023, you need a score of 270. There is an $810 fee to transfer your score. (UBE Score Transfer –- Colorado Supreme Court).

Can you get reciprocity for Colorado?
Yes, Colorado allows reciprocity via an application by motion. You must have practiced for 15 years prior to your application date. There is a $1,800 nonrefundable fee for an application on motion. that is nonrefundable.

You can register your laptop for the Colorado bar exam between January 6, 2026, and February 3, 2026. Colorado uses ILG Exam360 (ILG Exam360) to administer the exam for laptop users.

Can I get accommodations on the Colorado Bar Exam?
Yes, you can receive several accommodations on the Colorado Bar Exam. If you just need to bring in a mobility device or piece of medical equipment, you can fill out the Notice of Medical Aid or Medical Device. If you need further testing accommodations, you will need to provide proof of your disability, including documentation from your medical team.
