What is Harmless Error Analysis?

The legal doctrine usually applied by appellate courts that excuses a legal error made by a lower court because the error was harmless and did not cause prejudice to the appellant. Where the error cannot be said to have been harmless, the error will justify a reversal or remand for further proceedings.
