What is Miranda Rights?

Under Miranda v. Arizona, 384 U.S. 436 (1966), the Supreme Court held that police were required to first inform a suspect who was in custodial interrogation of his right against self-incrimination and his right to counsel. An interrogation without the specified warnings was unconstitutional and would be suppressed.
