Venue

Learn about the definition for this legal term.

What is Venue?

This refers to the location where a trial will be heard, and commonly is the most appropriate court location to where the crime was committed, or where part or all of the civil legal action occurred. Where pre-trial publicity prevents a fair trial, the court may grant a requested change of venue to another county or district within the state.
