What is Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code?

Article 9 governs security interests in personal property as collateral to secure a debt. A creditor with a security interest is called a secured party. Article 9 applies to how a security interest is created, how notice of it is provided, and how to perfect it. Also, it governs priorities of claims and remedies for default.
