What is Parol Evidence Rule?
A legal rule that excludes oral evidence to change or modify the existing terms of a written contract between the parties. Evidence of prior oral discussions or other extrinsic evidence to change or vary the terms of a written contract is forbidden. It is held, however, that evidence of prior oral discussions may be admissible to explain the meaning intended by the parties.
