What is Prima Facie Evidence?

A legal term referencing evidence that is true on the face of it and that is preliminarily sufficient proof to preclude the dismissal of a case. Proof of the bare elements needed to preclude the case from being dismissed preliminarily for lack of sufficient evidence.
