What is Tort reform?

State laws that purport to "reform" the tort law system by limiting the filing of negligence claims, capping recovery amounts, or other obstructive measures. One area of "tort reform" is in the medical malpractice area where many victims are statutorily prevented from making negligence claims against their medical providers.
