The Massachusetts Bar Exam is a 2-day exam. Day 1 has 2 90-min Multistate Performance Test questions (MPT) and six 30-min Multistate Essay Exam questions (MEE). Day 2 is the Multistate Bar Exam (MBE), a 200-question, multiple-choice exam. Day 2 consists of ten Massachusetts drafted essay questions.

A scaled score of 85 on the MPRE prior to bar application is required for admission.

MBE and essay scores are combined to determine if a passing score of 270 was achieved.
Results are released in May for the February exam and in early November for the July exam.
Massachusetts accepts actual raw MBE scores from other jurisdictions only if from a concurrent exam.
In order to be eligible for admission without taking the Massachusetts Bar Exam, the applicant must have been admitted in another jurisdiction for 5 years and have engaged in the active practice or teaching of law since prior admission. The applicant must also meet education requirements have achieved a scaled score of 85 on the MPRE.
