The North Dakota Bar Exam is a 2-day exam. On Day 1 you’ll have six 30-minute Multistate Essay Exam (MEE) questions in the morning and two 90-minute Multistate Performance Test (MPT) questions in the afternoon. Day 2 is the Multistate Bar Exam (MBE), a 200-question, multiple-choice exam (100 questions in the morning and 100 in the afternoon).
Agency, Commercial Paper, Conflict of Laws, Corporations, Family Law, Federal Civil Procedure, Partnerships, Sales, Secured Transactions, Trusts and Future Interests, Wills (Decedents’ Estates), Contracts, Criminal Law and Procedure, Constitutional Law, Evidence, Real Property, and Torts.
A scaled score of 85 on the MPRE achieved no more than five years from date of admission is required.

MBE is weighted 50%, the MEE is weighted 30%, and the MPT is weighted 20%. The scores are scaled and combined to determine if a passing score of 260 was achieved.
Results are released six weeks after the bar exam.
North Dakota admits applicants without exam based on scaled MBE scores of 150 or higher from other jurisdictions if taken within two years and admitted in that jurisdiction. The applicant must also be a graduate of an ABA accredited law school and have received a scaled score of 85 or higher on the MPRE no more than five years from date of application.
In order to be eligible for admission without taking the North Dakota Bar Exam, the applicant must be a member of a bar for 5 years preceding the application, have engaged in the active practice of law for 4 of the last 5 years, completed 45 hours of CLE coursework in the last 3 years -- (3 of the hours must be in legal ethics), and be an ABA accredited law school graduate.
