Legal Fee Agreement

Learn about the definition for this legal term.

What is Legal Fee Agreement?

The attorney must nearly always have a written fee agreement executed by the client and the law firm prior to engaging in providing legal services to the client. This may be hourly, a flat amount, or a combination of these. A contingent fee is used in personal injury cases and is based on the lawyer getting a percentage of any settlement or award, but if no award or recovery the lawyer gets nothing.
