The Virginia Bar Exam is a 2-day exam. Each day of the exam consists of 2 three-hour sessions; a morning test session and an afternoon test session, with approximately 1 hour for lunch between sessions. Day 1 consists of Virginia essay questions and multiple choice questions with emphasis on Virginia law. Day 2 is the Multistate Bar Exam (MBE), a 200-question, multiple-choice exam.

Business Organizations, Civil Procedure, Constitutional Law, Contracts, Creditor’s Rights, Criminal Law, Criminal Law and Procedure, Domestic Relations, Evidence, Federal Practice and Procedure, Local Government Law, Professional Responsibility, Real and Personal Property, Real Property, Torts, Uniform Commercial Code (Articles 2, 3A & 9A), Virginia Civil and Criminal Procedure (including appellate practice), Wills, Trusts and Estates.

What’s the minimum score for MPRE?

Virginia requires an MPRE scaled score of 85 or higher which may be achieved at any time before taking the bar exam or prior to the expiration of a passing Virginia bar exam score. How is the exam scored?

MBE (weighted 40%) and Virginia Essay exam (weighted 60%) scores are scaled and combined to determine if a passing score of 140 was achieved.
